We’re throwing a party, and you’re invited.

On Thursday, October 15, we’re opening the doors at Winter Park Village for an evening marking three years as Central Florida’s only SkinCeuticals SkinLab. The theme is 1920s speakeasy, which felt about right for a practice that’s been caring for Winter Park skin since 1996.

Expect beer and wine, bites from Hangry Bison, a roulette wheel with prizes to win, and the people who’ve been doing this work in this town for 30 years.

And then there’s the cocktail menu from Rock Steady Bar Company, hand-crafting four drinks with names that sound like they know something, and one for anyone skipping the spirits:

  • The Blind Tiger: Woodford Reserve bourbon, demerara sugar, and aromatic bitters. The speakeasy classic, done right.
  • The Flapper: Bombay Sapphire gin, champagne, and fresh lemon. Bright, bubbly, and impossible to have just one.
  • Bee’s Knees: Gin, fresh lemon, and honey syrup. A Prohibition-era favorite, as smooth as it sounds.
  • The Teetotaler: Cranberry, ginger ale, fresh lemon, and honey. Zero-proof, full spirit. The 1920s toast.

It’s a social evening rather than a treatment night, so nothing is performed on site. Come for the drinks, stay for the company, and if you’d like to get on the calendar before you leave, we’ll be glad to help.

There’s a password at the door, of course. We’ll send it to you the day before.

Guests are welcome. Bring friends, partners, anyone whose company you enjoy. We just ask that you name them when you RSVP so we have a drink ready and a card at the door. The evening is 21 and over.

Why we’re celebrating

Three years ago, this practice became Central Florida’s only SkinCeuticals SkinLab. That designation isn’t handed out. A SkinLab is a physician-directed environment where SkinCeuticals science is practiced the way it was researched, which is a narrower promise than it sounds and a harder one to keep.

What made it possible was the thirty years that came before it.

What 30 years looks like

Michelle Hartog, Liz Pain, and Dr. Jeffrey Hartog have worked together for the better part of two decades. Michelle and Dr. Hartog established their Winter Park practice in 1996. Liz spent eighteen years alongside them before the three opened SkinLab together. In aesthetic medicine, that kind of continuity is rare enough to be the whole story.

Jeffrey Hartog, DMD, MD

Dr. Hartog is double board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery and in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and he serves as medical director of SkinCeuticals SkinLab Winter Park. He has practiced aesthetic medicine in Central Florida since the 1990s and established the Winter Park practice with Michelle in 1996. His view has stayed the same throughout: there is no route to facial rejuvenation that doesn’t start with healthy skin.

Michelle Hartog, APRN, MSN, MHS

Michelle began in critical care and emergency medicine before moving into aesthetics full time, and she was working with Botox and dermal fillers from the point they first entered aesthetic practice. She is a Master Injector and trained for Allergan for more than ten years, teaching other injectors on Botox and Juvéderm. She founded the Winter Park practice with Dr. Hartog in 1996 and has spent the years since building a reputation for results that look like nothing happened.

Liz Pain, APRN

An Orlando native with more than twenty years in aesthetic medicine, Liz came up through electrology and laser before earning her nursing degrees at UCF and Florida Southern. She is a national trainer for Cutera and travels the country teaching laser physics to physicians, nurse practitioners, and technicians, which is an unusual depth of technical grounding for an injector. Twelve years into neurotoxin and filler work, her focus is facial balance rather than correction for its own sake.

“We realize results are not always about perfection but about a natural balanced appearance and preserving the attributes that make each person unique. We strive to improve an individual’s confidence and self esteem. Technology and devices may change but our commitment to personalized and thoughtful care has always remained our primary goal.”  — Michelle Hartog

What that time teaches you

Mostly restraint.

Patients who find us after a bad experience elsewhere tend to arrive with a version of the same story. They were sold a package. They were treated for something they didn’t have. They were talked into a little more than they wanted, and now the result looks like something happened.

Undoing that is slower than doing it. It’s also one of the most common conversations we have.

So the practice runs the other direction. We’d rather start with a look at your skin than a look at a price list. The SkinScope LED shows sun damage, congestion, and hydration below the surface, which usually reframes the conversation before anyone recommends anything. Sometimes the answer is a treatment. Often it’s a smaller one than expected, or better products, or nothing yet.

Nobody has ever complained about being told to wait.

If you’ve never been in, October 15 is an easy way to see the space and meet the people. No appointment, no pressure, and the SkinScope will be running if you’re curious.
